Dr. Ganiat Jaiyesinmi Ajayi
Dr. J, as she is popularly known, brings a wealth of expertise and experience to her practice.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Clark Atlanta University in 1991 and graduated with honors from Meharry Medical College in 1996 with her Doctor of Medicine degree.
Her training in Psychiatry began with an internship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by a residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. J has served in various prestigious academic and clinical roles.
She was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatric & Behavioral Science at Emory University School of Medicine and a Clinical Psychiatric Attending at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She also held the position of Medical Director for the Intensive Day Treatment Program at the Dekalb Crisis Center.
In 2003, Dr. J founded Intervention One and has been its Clinical Director since then. Her career spans over two decades, during which she has held numerous administrative roles in both the public and private sectors.
Dr. J’s extensive training covers Psychiatric-Obstetrics, Substance Use Disorder, and both Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry. Her dedication and excellence in these fields have earned her several accolades, including a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Veterans Affairs, a Certificate of Recognition from the American Academy of Neurology Education & Research Foundation, and the Rafael Hernandez MD Award for Excellence in Psychiatry, among others.
Passionate about advocacy, Dr. J supports abuse victims and trauma survivors.
She enjoys spending quality time with her family, and her hobbies include reading, cooking, crocheting, yoga, and meditation. She is also actively involved in mentoring programs, educating young people, and participating in various charitable organizations.
